Style Philosophy

China has almost 3000 years of martial arts history.  In that time hundreds of different styles have developed, for all different purposes.  Up until the founding of the Republic of China in 1912, the vast majority of these arts had a common purpose: to be used in warfare and for personal protection.  Since that time, due to a number of factors, many systems have lost their practicality in favor of stylized presentation.

With the Yinglong system, Sijo David sought to return to the roots of classical Kung Fu training. Focusing on 3 things - practicality, efficiency and effectiveness.  If a technique didn’t fit those criteria, it was removed from the curriculum. Because of this, the Yinglong system is primarily meant for personal protection and self defense. The goal is to avoid dangerous situations if possible; and, if not, to deliver fast and effective responses so you can escape to safety.
